1. Understand
Go through the requirements and whatever already exists: the codebase, the designs, the APIs, the accounts. Most projects already have more in place than the brief says.
2. Agree a first milestone
Pick one piece that is worth shipping on its own, and agree what done looks like for it before writing code.
3. Implement and review
Build it in reviewable pieces so you can see progress and correct direction early, rather than at the end.
4. Release and hand over
Prepare the release, ship it, and leave your team able to run and extend the work without me.
